The latest figures from the IT Job Board indicate that the employment market in the technology sector is starting to get back to pre-recessionary levels.
The 21,000 jobs being advertised on the IT recruitment site was a 16% increase on Q4 2009 with management and support roles taking up most of the positions being looked for.
The main skills in demand were project management, SQL and software engineers with most vacancies being looked to be filled on a permanent basis. Contract positions also increased by 54% over the last three months.
Alex Farrell, managing director of The IT Job Board, said that there were optimistic signs in the market.
"We have continued to see a rapid rise in the number of positions being advertised in the first quarter of 2010, a real sign that the market is bouncing back," he said.
