Symantec Hosted Services, formerly MessageLabs, has responded to reseller requests for simplification in its channel programmes and enhanced the deal registration rewards it gives partners.
The hosted email specialist has been in consultations with resellers and has rejigged its global programmes and support to underpin efforts of those partners that are looking to grow fresh business.
"What is the business model of the partner and what level of investment do they want to make?" were the two questions that Andrew Norman, director of partner programs for Symantec Hosted Services.
At the entry level there is an option for resellers that want to get some funds from referral business as well 20% margin for those that become authorised and the promise that the vendor will deal with customer support.
For more accomplished partners the hosted services can be offered as part of an OEM package.
"It has been an evolution over the last couple of years," added Norman describing the vendor's move away from the pack and plaque approach to the channel. "The pieces were in place but they weren't flexible enough for partners."
