Apple dealer Square Group has acquired the brand name and certain other assets from Computer Warehouse (CW).

Earlier this week, CW appointed insolvency practitioner MLG Associates who confirmed that the professional audio and video arm CW Pro had been sold to Academia, while Syco Systems had acquired the retail operation.

However, it has emerged that Square Group has bought the brand, customer list and certain other assets of CW, one of the oldest brands in the UK Mac market with its 23 year history.

Darren King, managing director of Square Group, said it would be combining its own online efforts under the CW brand.

"With our investment, experience and focus, we're confident in maintaining and improving CW's market share," he said

"We're also very much looking forward to working with CW's business and education clients, and bring them our experience, knowledge and values built over the last 16 years of Square's trading history," King added.

Jonathan Cole, chairman of Computer Warehouse Ltd, said that Square Group would be able to deliver the service to its customers and "address the needs of the new generation of Apple users".
