Brocade has promoted Barbara Spicek to the role of vice president worldwide channels, having previously held the role of senior director of partner sales and marketing for EMEA.

In her new role Spicek will take on responsibility for developing channel strategies and defining and accelerating Brocade's partner programme as it absorbs Foundry's reseller community.
"Barbara's appointment is a timely one in light of our entry into the IP/Ethernet networking market through the acquisition of Foundry," acknowledged Brocade senior vice president of worldwide sales, Ian Whiting.
The acquisition of Foundry Networks closed at the start of January after a drawn-out process that at one point saw Brocade head to its banks to secure additional credit.
The deal, which was received sceptically at first, has since been painted as a potentially powerful means for Brocade to challenge networking titans Cisco and Juniper, especially in the 10 gigabit Ethernet sphere.
