It might seem an off time to revive one of the largest IT show brands just as the tired feet walk the halls in CeBIT but Comdex is returning as an online event.
Traditionally held in Las Vegas attracting resellers, distributors and vendors the event could not cope with the impact of the dot.com bubble crashing and slipped off the calendar in 2003.
But United Business Media (UBM), which picked up the Comdex brand in 2006, is bringing the event back as a virtual show on 16-17 November this year.
"The original Comdex died because it stopped serving its core customers. We are giving Comdex a future by going back to its past. Our virtual COMDEX is focused on serving the IT channel, value added resellers, ISVs and all those people and businesses who make up the IT distribution system," said David Levin, CEO of UBM.
