Websense has announced the global launch of a managed services reseller programme in a move designed not only to reflect the growing demand for those skills but the desire to grow its channel base.
The security vendor has been moving like most of its rivals into a position where it can offer cloud based services but with the increase in blended threats it has launched the Managed Security Service Provider (MSSP).
Select partners, which meet the Websense criteria in technical competency and services will be invited to join the global programme, which is based around the vendor's Triton system which combines web security gateway, data loss prevention and email protection into a single package.
Rob Ayoub, industry manager, network security technologies at Frost & Sullivan, said that users were looking for products that protected against "inbound and outbound threats" and blended attacks.
Some of the names that were mentioned as examples of MSSPs already using Websense included Integralis and the vendor is looking to recruit partners through the course of this year.
Devin Redmond, Websense vice president, product management and business development, said that it wanted to get the best from its resellers.
"Websense and our industry leading MSSP programme participants are clearly seeing the global need to better enable customers to deploy and manage Web and content security solutions," he said.
