HDS has confirmed that chief technology director Tony Reid is set to become the successor to UK boss Steve Murphy, who is moving to HP as vice president of sales.

As revealed yesterday by MicroScope, Murphy has hung up his boots at HDS after four years at the helm.

Michael Vaeth, senior vice president and general manager EMEA at HDS, praised Murphy's contribution during his tenure, "but it is normal that people move on after a while and seek new challenges.

"One of [Murphy's] achievements has been strengthening and focusing the management team, and it is from that team that Tony Reid...will step up to assume Steve's responsibilities," he added.

Both customers and partners will see business as usual "with no change in direction of service."
