Epson is going against the flow in the market by holding fire on a managed print services push according to UK managing director Chris Price.
The printer market was at the sharp end of the downturn in IT spending - though Epson, along with HP, has held its own in hardware sales - as customers froze capital expenditure and expressed interest in MPS to help cut costs.

"If our potential customers say yes to MPS, we will of course offer MPS," he told MicroScope.
As with other vendors, Price concurred Epson had also had limited success in pushing MPS through the IT channel as printer resellers struggled to adjust business to a new way of generating revenues.
"We are probably finding it as equally tough [as our rivals], mainly because in MPS customers are looking for a suite of products or services as opposed to what we have on offer which is one particular part of that," he said.
