An increase in average selling prices (ASPs) helped to drive a 17.5% growth in revenue for notebooks, desktops and workstations through UK distribution in June to a value of just over £103m, according to figures from Context.


ASPs were positively affected by a number of factors, including exchange rate issues and rising component prices. An increase in mainstream notebook sales and a fall in netbook unit share to 22% helped increase the ASP in the notebook category.


Desktops had benefited from interest in more expensive all-in-one systems from private users and a small rise in business desktops.


The market researcher found that notebooks were continuing to drive unit growth, up 19% year on year (but down sequentially on the previous month), and desktops had also performed well, increasing by 16% on the same month in 2009.


Workstations also grew quite significantly by 21% (although from a small base) which senior research analyst Marie-Christine Pygott said indicated there had been a lift in demand from the business sector as CAD-based industries started to invest again.
