IBM has confirmed that this year's PartnerWorld conference in Toronto has been cancelled in response to channel feedback but it will hold regional and country-specific events.

Last month, MicroScope revealed that in the current climate partners were concerned at spending $1,700 to fly thousands of miles to a worldwide shindig to listen to keynote speeches, network and get drunk.
Jacqueline Davey, vice president of IBM's Business Partner Organisation for the UK and Ireland, confirmed the event was not taking place.
"We spend a lot of time talking to our business partners around the world and in response to feedback we have decided to run more local events with more tailored content," said Davey.
"This means partners will take less time out of the office and spend less time travelling," she added.
Now that IBM has decided to shelve PartnerWorld 2009, the plan is to develop a local schedule but as yet no dates have been formally agreed.
