The appointment of a distributor to handle what was the Postini product range, which was acquired by Google in 2007, follows on less than a week after the Internet giant rolled out a programme to sign up resellers to sell its Enterprise apps.
The security suite offers email security and archiving and web security that wraps around Google apps and will be sold by ComputerLinks in the UK, France, Germany, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Austria, Denmark and Switzerland.
“We can delivery the product range with some value added services around that,” said David Caughtry, director of e-business at ComputerLinks.
He said that it would naturally be encouraging its security customers to sign up to sell the products but there was also a chance to engage with a wider channel.
“We have got to introduce it not just to the ComputerLinks channel but to the wider market and even some resellers that have not engaged with that market before,” he added.
ComputerLinks has long been known for its security business but it also has an e-business side to its operations and Caughtry said with the emergence of SaaS it was important for the distributor to increase its cloud-based services.
Peter Lorant, head of EMEA partners at Google Enterprise, said that there was a pressing requirement for security in the cloud.
“With the ever-growing prevalence of viruses and spam, this agreement creates new revenue opportunities for resellers to help their customers be more secure, compliant and productive,” he said.
