Interactive Ideas continues to build out its open source portfolio and has signed with messaging and collaboration vendor Zimbra.
The Red Hat distributor joined forces with database player Ingres last month and told MicroScope it planned to continue bolstering its open source portfolio as more cost conscious customers expressed an interest in non-proprietary software alternatives.
Mike Trup, Interactive managing director said it aimed to “make a portfolio of enterprise ready solutions based on the subscription based Open Source model” for resellers.
It will promote the Zimbra Collaboration suite featuring the web client integrating email, contacts, shared calendar, instant messaging, tasks and online document authoring and sharing.
The stack was designed specifically to be delivered by resellers and hosted services providers said Zimbra EMEA general manager Lars Nordhild Ronning.
Nigel Wright, sales director at Dorest-based reseller Abtech, believed Zimbra was a “real alternative to proprietary email products”.
