The vendor has traditionally operated in the mid market space but views the enterprise market as an opportunity that it can target because it has competitive advantages by controlling its manufacturing process and costs.
“I think it is an opportunity and my experience is that if you go into a competitive situation [you can win business],” said Jon Ashley, director of marketing at Infortrend.
He added that it had a roadmap with six products, the first four being based on fibre channel and the other on ISCSI, and would start shipping in the third quarter: “We are announcing the vision for the next three years at CeBit.”
To support its expansion into the enterprise market Ashley said that it would need to recruit resellers with customer contacts in that space and would be hitting the road to gain channel support in the next few months.
To help that process the company is in the process of appointing a global channel marketing manager that will be based in either Germany or the UK.
