Network access vendor ZyXEL is to make a move on the IP-CCTV sector after signing a partnership agreement with specialist surveillance kit disti and Panasonic house CCTV Center.

Under the terms of the agreement, ZyXEL will provide network infrastructure to sit under the Panasonic i-Pro and i-Pro24/7 IP-CCTV packages in a deal that the partners claim will make the solutions more keenly-priced and more robust.

Tim Cocks, CCTV Center technical director, explained that a reliable network was an essential part of an IP-CCTV installation.

“However, up until now, CCTV planners have had little choice but to use prohibitively expensive enterprise solutions from specialists, or to compromise and risk down-time with equipment designed for general purpose broadband apps,” he continued.

CCTV Center reseller partners will receive discounts on ZyXEL gear and get direct access to the vendor’s technical support teams, said ZyXEL UK country director Lee Marsden.

The iPro solutions offer a web-based front-end providing transparency of operation for end-users, including event review, reporting and statistics, alarms and system status and online site management, among other things.
