Industry veteran Walker has resigned from Avnet Technology Solutions where he ran its storage practise across EMEA, having joined the distributor when it acquired Horizon. Previously, he helmed Bell Micro's enterprise storage business.
Talking to MicroScope, Lee Perkins, UK country manager at Azlan UK parent Computer 2000 said he had wanted to "build our mid-range line-up for some time".
"Mark will join us early in February as director of the server and storage business in Azlan, there will be some other appointments that we are not yet able announce but the team will double in size," he said.
The distributor, which narrowly missed out on the acquisition of CCD, is also hoping to announce some additional infrastructure vendor partners this year but Perkins was unable to confirm names at this point,
However, as reported Hewlett-Packard is expected to appoint Azlan as its latest StorageWorks value distributor and others will follow.
In the interim, former Bell Micro UK storage boss Nigel Dunn is running the seven strong Azlan server and storage team until Walker comes on board. Jon Kaiser, Azlan business manager has been elevated to technical architect.
In a statement, Sukh Rayat, EMEA senior vice president of sales at Avnet TS, said it would announce Walker's successor "in due course".
