Security reseller Caretower has taken the wraps off an auditing service it hopes will open customer wallets and bolster its pedigree as a consultancy.

Over the past few years resellers have been urged to move away from selling kit and to concentrate on building a services element of their business and Caretower has decided that now is the right time to make an investment in its future strategy.
Chris Berry, information security consultant at Caretower said that it was already finding that two-day audits it ran of customer systems raised questions about security and improved the relationship between reseller and customer.
“Most people working in information security are forced to stay on top of everything and it is good value if you can show management [an audit] so they are well aware of the risks,” he said.
He said that a comprehensive check list of security included not just the data network but also physical protection and external access.
As a result Caretower has expanded its specialist team ramping up its ability to deliver more consultancy services.
