A large proportion of technical staff are planning to make this year the moment when they move to a better job.

According to the IT Job Board nearly 90% of those surveyed are looking at making moves in the months ahead to find better career opportunities and positions that paid more salary.

On an upbeat note half of those questioned said that they anticipated some negative impact from the downturn but not for this sector to be as badly hit as others.

“It’s positive to see that the sector’s employees do not believe the economic downturn will have a major impact on career opportunities,”said Alex Farrell, managing director of the IT Job Board.

“It will be paramount for employees to attract and retain quality staff, and help them improve their technical skills,” he added.
