Juniper’s ‘Endpoint Security for Business: Desktops, Laptops and Mobile Devices 2009-2014’ report predicted that over 77 million corporate devices will be using security software by the middle of the decade.
“Improvements to the underlying security of the OS, shorter replacement cycles and concerted efforts by the mobile industry to avoid the problems seen in the PC world have so far kept the malware threat to the mobile device at bay,” said Juniper senior analyst Anthony Cox.
It is thought that the growing value of data held on corporate smartphones, laptops and netbooks, will cause more enterprise buyers to take up security technology in the next five years.
However, even with 77 million devices covered, corporate mobile device protection levels will rise to just 18.6% by 2014.
