Small retailers - employing 50-99 staff - spend £3,700 each on custom software.  Outlay on application packages and system software is similar at £3,400 per company.  Less than a third of that is expended on development tools.

Packaged Software Spend Growth - Transport Equipment Manufacturers

Packaged software spend by transport equipment manufacturers experienced healthy growths in 2011 and 2012.  This applied to all three main components - applications, development tools and system software.  It continues to do so in 2013.  Demand is expected to dampen in subsequent years.

Software Spend - Publishing Companies

Large publishing companies are planning to spend over £90m on external software during 2013.  This will be some £3m per company.  The largest software category will be application packages at over £1m per company whilst the smallest will be development tools at half that amount.
