Intel is making changes to its
Nehalem
chipset server line to support
cloud computing in large datacentres.
The hardware and software updates will deliver energy savings
and better scalability, said Intel.
The initiative is being supported by a new range of
power-efficient motherboards that will house the cloud computing
chips.
The new
Nehalem-based boards will use Xeon processors, which are
expected to be released this quarter.
Features such as Dynamic Power Node Manager and VMDQ (Virtual
Machine Device Queues) will enable better power management and
deliver faster data processing throughput, promised Intel.
