Barclays bank has taken its
online banking the inevitable step further
with the introduction of a free service to enable customers to
connect to online banking via a web-enabled mobile
phone.
The
Barclays.mobi web link will connect
customers to pages designed specifically to be viewed on mobile
phones. It is being offered to the bank’s 1.9 million online
customers.
The service will initially enable customers to check their
account balances and statements but more services will be
added.
Sean Gilchrist, director for electronic banking at Barclays,
said, “Barclays is constantly working to make the most of new
technology and the opportunities it offers for accessing banking
services.
“These days most of us are never far from our mobile phones and
this new service means that we are now never far from our bank
account either.”
