The unitary cooling products business group (UPBG) of Voltas, a Rs 1,000 crore division, manufactures small air conditioners, water coolers, and water dispensers. Before the BI tool came into their lives, UPBG’s sales executives relied on manual processing of data to create presentations.
Since the sales executives made forecasts about collections based on their own experience of individual dealers' track records, it was a time-consuming exercise laden with inaccuracies. UPBG needed a tool that could improve forecasting and also help salespersons to track outstanding and monitor commitments given by their customers.
The SAP BO now helps the sales executives draft and forecast collections simply by feeding data into the BI system. Once the outstanding is cleared, the tool automatically tracks discrepancies, if any, and highlights the pending bills.
