We opted to remove junk files from the PC. System Mechanic took a few minutes to identify nearly 500 junk files that could be safely removed, freeing up nearly 700 Mbytes of data on the hard desk.
Then, we selected an option to maximize the computer speed. The software defragmented the Windows registry almost instantly, but optimizing the system drive took rather longer – between 30 and 40 minutes.
A quick scan, and the CRUDD remover suggested we remove the Firefox and Chrome browsers, and the iTunes, and VLC media players. We decided to leave well enough alone, however.
