Adobe plans to abandon its Flash player for mobile browsers and cut 750 jobs across North America and Europe as part of a reorganisation.

The job cuts form part of plans to "align resources" in its digital media and digital marketing departments. Adobe expects the restructuring charges to reach up to $94m, impacting next quarter's financial results.

Mark Garrett, executive vice-president and CFO at Adobe, said some of these charges will be included in the company's fourth quarter financial results. The company still plans to achieve sales of $1.1bn this quarter.

The digital media and digital marketing departments deal with content authoring products.

"We believe that by focusing resources on two large initiatives and shifting our business model, we can drive faster and more predictable growth in financial year 2013 and beyond," said Garrett.

According to internet reports, the company also plans to scrap its Flash player plug-in for mobile browsers, halting development for its browser and operating system version to focus investment on HTML5 development.

An Adobe statement confirmed company plans to focus Flash resources on "PC web experiences" and mobile applications.
