Review of IntelliJ IDEA, a Java IDE

Android development

Source:  JetBrains

A significant part of Java development is now Android development, and this aspect is improved in IDEA 11 with support for the Android 4.0 SDK and the addition of a live preview for Android user interface designs. Although this is not a full visual designer, the preview update is fast and when combined with IDEA’s code hints it provides most of the benefits of a visual designer.

Integration with the Android software developer’s kit (SDK) and tools is strong. You can define Android platforms, test and debug on the emulator or on an Android device over USB, and access the SDK manager from within IDEA. There are also Android-specific templates for code generation and XML manifests and resources.
