SAP highlights a rising position in the cloud

SAP has revealed that cloud revenues have climbed sharply in its Q2 results giving it the chance to talk about taking a market leading position

The cloud delivered strong growth for SAP giving the software vendor the chance to boast about taking a leading position in the market.

The future cloud battles it fights out with Oracle might be to come but for now SAP is able to report a 112% increase in new and upsell subscriptions for its SuccessFactors operation compared to the second quarter of last year.

The big data product HANA also fared well as did the mobile offerings from the vendor with revenue rising by 18% to €3,898m compared to the same three months ended 30 June a year before. Post tax profits also climbed by 12% to €661m.

In a statement from co-CEOs Bill McDermott and Jim Hagemann Snabe the resulted were described as being down to its innovation strategy and providing customers with value.

As well as the cloud growing software and related services revenue increased by 21% to €3,124m.
