The world of WAN optimisation (WAN Op) has been in existence for over a decade now, yet, it is still far from ubiquitous.

But who would not want to optimise their data across WAN links? The main barriers have been cost and complexity. These products tend to be associated with  huge price-lists with a myriad of options, both feature and licence-wise, plus additional maintenance and upgrade costs.
