Real time comms on the move

Real time communications platform Jibe Mobile was named the best "Rich Communication Suite" (RCS) mobile client in the GSMA's RCS Dev Challenge this week. As demonstrated here by independent technologist and photographer Max Beerman, the Jibe 2.0 address book allows users to connect, share and manage their communications while enabling features such as two-way video, file sharing and messaging. According to Vodafone's head of services architecture Phillip Carter, "Jibe's implementation of the new RCS-lite specification is the first independent solution developed in collaboration with Vodafone. The Jibe SDK opens up significant opportunity for handset manufacturers to speed up delivery of products that can serve operator commercialisation plans in 2011 and further enhance RCS services through app to app integration."

More than 1,300 companies attracted in excess of 50,000 delegates from 200 countries to Mobile World Congress in Barcelona this week.
