How are schools using the Raspberry Pi?

East Sheen Primary – Team: Pen-Pi

Pen Pi

The Pen Pi is this school’s modern version of a penfriend. By linking up to discarded keyboards and monitors, the Pen Pi enables primary schools in third-world countries to communicate, in a more cost effective way, with schools on the other side of the world by using programmes such as Skype. As schools in third-world countries do not have the financial resources to invest in school technology such as numerous laptops, they can achieve communication between other schools with a cost-effective Raspberry Pi.

PA Consulting Group challenged schools, universities and inventors to use the Raspberry Pi to make the world a better place.

Winners of the competition will be announced March 20 at PA’s Cambridge Technology Centre.
