Microsoft founder Bill Gates is to speak at a breakfast briefing being set up by the BCS IT directors' group, the Effective Leadership in IT Group (Elite). Gates, Microsoft's chairman and chief software architect, will outline his vision of the future for the company and what this might mean for its customers.

Microsoft founder Bill Gates is to speak at a breakfast briefing being set up by the BCS IT directors' group, the Effective Leadership in IT Group (Elite). Gates, Microsoft's chairman and chief software architect, will outline his vision of the future for the company and what this might mean for its customers.

The 40-minute briefing and question-and-answer session will be followed by an update on BCS developments by the society's chief executive, David Clarke, with a focus on professionalism and membership initiatives.

The event is on 27 October in central London.
