Sun Microsystems has completed its acquisition of SeeBeyond Technology in a $383m (£212m) deal.
The acquisition has been seen as an attempt by Sun to offer application integration that builds on its Java Enterprise Server technology.
The firm has also announced the launch of its Java Integration Suite, as an immediate result of the SeeBeyond deal. The launch is aimed at capturing the growing integration market with an affordable product to meet businesses’ security and integration needs.
Sun’s president and chief operating officer, Jonathan Schwartz, said: “The SeeBeyond technology dramatically enhances the value of our Java Enterprise System platform and delivers a whole solution with next-generation technology and services to integrate legacy application into new composite applications.
“The synergies between the two companies are remarkable – we have completed the acquisition ahead of schedule, we have integrated core technologies into our product portfolio, and we have formally engaged with more than 2,000 customers worldwide to solve their complex integration problems.”
Sun has pledged to maintain support for SeeBeyond’s customers.
