Dominic Trotta has been appointed chief information officer of Barclays Bank. He takes over the role from interim CIO Mike Foley, who is making way to become the group’s chief administrative officer.
Trotta joins Barclays from Citibank, where he was in charge of the global technology for the retail business. Prior to that, he held senior technology positions at Chase and American Express.
The bank’s last permanent chief information officer was David Weymouth, who stood down at the end of 2004 after more than four years in the role. In that period, the bank’s technological infrastructure underwent significant change to correct a system that had become, in Weymouth’s words, “massively fragmented”.
Having seen through the bank’s IT consolidation, at the start of the year Weymouth took on the role of corporate responsibility director for the group.
