Sun Microsystems is now believed to be planning a September launch for the next version of its StarOffice collaboration suite.
StarOffice 8.0, which was originally expected to be shipped last month, has been in beta since the beginning of this year.
The StarOffice suite, which includes a word processor, database, spreadsheet and presentation software, is designed to rival Microsoft’s popular Office suite.
As a result of the delays affecting StarOffice 8.0, Sun’s free and open source OpenOffice 2.0 suite has also been delayed.
OpenOffice is based on the StarOffice code and version 2.0 now isn’t expected until some time after September.
