Computer Associates fires up Linux products

Computer Associates International has added more open-source weapons to its enterprise arsenal with the release of a dozen Linux software products.

The products for heterogeneous enterprises are Unicenter Management for WebSphere, Unicenter Management Portal, eTrust Web Access Control and CleverPath Aion Business Rules Expert.

For distributed environments, CA released BrightStor ARCserve Backup agents for Apache and MySQL, and for mainframe environments new versions of Unicenter Network and Systems ManagementJob Management Option and reporting tool Advantage CA-Easytrieve.

CA now offers more than 60 open-source solutions to support Linux within multi-supplier IT environments.

"Organisations have moved past the experimental pilot stage with Linux and are now implementing systems that are central to their core business needs," said Sam Greenblatt, senior vice-president and chief architect of CA's Linux Technology Group.
