The US owner of sourcing consultancy TPI has acquired Compass Management Consulting, to increase the transformational services it can offer.

TPI parent Information Services Group said the acquisition will now offer customers benchmarking services as well as sourcing advice.

Compass is a consultancy that specialises in IT and business benchmarking while TPI advises businesses on what outsourcing contracts to sign.

Michael Connors, CEO at ISG, said TPI and Compass have complimentary expertise. "The combination of ISG, TPI and Compass is strategically powerful, timely and capable of creating substantial growth opportunities over the near and long-term."

Robert Morgan, director at sourcing broker Burnt-Oak Partners, says this is a good deal for ISG. "Compass is a very good company which was successful in moving from being an analyst like company to a consultancy."

He says this could transform TPI from being transaction driven to being a consultancy lead operation.
