We've been asking our readers to show off the IT
hardware they're hoarding, whether at home or in the
office.
Rounds one and two of our Hardware Hoarders photo competition
have now closed. The winners
were
Eric Jukes and Jane Williams. There'll be another round later
in the year for a further chance to win.
In the meantime, you can still view the
readers' photo
gallery and
share your
photos with other readers in our Flickr Group. Read on for some
tips on how to do this, and please note that if you do submit any
photos, you will be deemed to have accepted our
terms and conditions of submission. So check them out
first!
Taking your photo
You can take your photograph with any digital camera - including
your mobile phone.
Be as creative as you can! Show off your
hardware in context. Show how tiny it is by picturing it next to a
postage stamp cupped in the palm of your hands. Demonstrate how
much technology has moved on in the last decade or so by
photographing your vintage IT equipment next to its modern-day
equivalent. Video yourself showing your kit to an admiring and
envious friend. Include yourself gazing adoringly at your item.
Your creativity counts as much as the actual stuff featured - maybe
more!
Submitting your photo by Flickr
If you have a Flickr account, post your photo to
Flickr, then join our
Flickr group and
Send to Group.
Use the title and description fields of your photo to enter any
further details like how old the kit is, how big it is, why you
love it, why you're hoarding it.
Tag the photo 'hardwarehoarders'.
We'll use your Flickr name as your credit if we publish your
photo online or in print.
Submitting your photo by email
You can also submit your photo by email to
hardwarehoarders@computerweekly.com.
If you're emailing us an image, please send it in jpeg
format.
In the email accompanying your photo, make sure to
include:
* your contact details (in case we need to get in touch with
you)
* your 'screen name', if different from your actual name (we'll use
this to credit your photo if we publish it)
* a brief description of your photo, with any interesting details
about the item.
