The IT architecture for the 2008 Beijing
Olympics is already completed, according to the main IT firm
for the
London Olympics.
Atos Origin, the worldwide IT partner for the Olympic Games,
has announced it has completed the IT system architecture for the
Beijing Games on schedule.
“The success of Olympic Games IT systems is determined years
before through advanced planning and preparation,” said Jeremy
Hore, Atos Origin Beijing 2008 chief technology integrator.
“The technology for Beijing is making very good progress and we
are pleased to be on schedule with the system architecture," he
said.
The Atos Origin contract with the International Olympic
Committee is the world’s largest sports-related IT contract. It
covers IT consulting, systems integration, operations management,
information security and applications development.
The Beijing infrastructure will link together more than 60
competition and non-competition venues across China, consisting of
more than 900 servers, 7,000 PCs and 1,000 network and security
devices.
Atos will now embark on a year’s testing of the systems before
the games take place. Technology partners include
Lenovo,
China Netcom and China Mobile.
