Online betting and gaming company
Betfair has set up a new software-development centre in
Romania to take advantage of skills as well as low
costs.
The company opened the centre earlier this year with eight
developers, and there are now 35 staff with the company expecting
the centre to reach its capacity of 50 in September.
The company said the decision to open a Romanian centre in the
city of Cluj-Napoca was not just based on 30% lower staff costs,
but on the area’s skills and resources.
As reported by Silicon.com, Director of Betfair development in
Romania, Eachan Fletcher, said they will use skills such as
Microsoft .Net and SQL, Java and specialist areas like mobile
driver development to work on a new sportsbook platform, and the
poker and gaming products. They will keep expanding the facility in
line with product roadmap demand.
