UK synchrotron: The computer room

The high-resolution detectors at the Diamond Light Source synchrotron are 16 megapixels, 32-bit sensors, sampling data at 100 times a second. Heron adds: “High data rates come of detectors” Beamlines at Diamond produce between 4 – 14 TBytes of data every day, which is handled through high-density computer rooms such as above.
