MigSolv offers SME colocation clients way-in to public sector deals through Janet network

Norwich-based colocation provider embarks on technology tie-up with Janet's commercial arm to ensure clients have direct access to education sector network

Colocation provider MigSolv is now able to offer its clients access to the Janet network, opening up new opportunities for them to secure public sector business of their own.

Norwich-based MigSolv has partnered with networking firm Next Connex to provide the inhabitants of its Gatehouse datacentre in the east of England with a direct link to the Janet network.

The deal is part of a wider push by Jiscom, Janet’s commercial arm, to grow its user base by making its services accessible to a wider range of organisations, above and beyond those in the academic and scientific community.

Janet is reportedly used by around 18 million people, and is renowned for acting as the networking backbone for the UK education sector by providing users with high-speed connectivity to research and other academic resources.

As such, MigSolv claims the addition of Janet connectivity to its site will pave the way for its clients to make use of the Public Services Network (PSN), N3 NHS Network and the Police National Network, and – in turn – make it easier for them to win public sector contracts.

The company’s reseller partners will also benefit from being able to bundle in a Janet network connection with any colocation space they sell under their own branding.

The deal marks MigSolv out as being one of just two UK datacentres able to offer clients access to a commercial Janet network connection, with the first being the Goonhilly Earth Station in Cornwall.

David Manning, managing director of MigSolv, said the addition of Janet network connectivity will bring many benefits to its clients.

“It’s a prestigious, ultra-fast network – and a great fit with our datacentre, which is one of the most secure in the world,” he said. “Our Janet link opens up a vast new marketplace for companies and public bodies that choose to use our datacentre services.”
