Finnish transport bodies outsource IT

The Finnish government has awarded WM-data, a LogicaCMG company, a £7m outsourcing contract to deliver IT services to public sector transport organisations in Finland.

The Finnish government has awarded WM-data, a LogicaCMG company, a £7m outsourcing contract to deliver IT services to public sector transport organisations in Finland.

The services will be provided to the Finnish Road Administration, the Finnish Maritime Administration, and the Finnish Rail Administration.

The contract runs from 2008 to 2010, with an option to extend the agreement by three years.

The service package includes workstation and system management as well as capacity on demand and data communications services. In addition, WM-data will provide services for system integration, message transmission administration and monitoring.

The deal also includes infrastructure services for electronic transactions, as well as identity and access management services to the client consortium.

Raimo Kangaskoski, project manager at the Finnish Road Administration, said, "We are now able to better focus on our core competencies and to improve our efficiency. The deal also strengthens the collaboration within the consortium."
