Anti-age discrimination law is opening opportunities for older IT professionals, according to recruitment expert S&H Consulting.
There were certainly opportunities for older IT managers and professionals if people have the experience, said S&H director Charles Rustin.
“The number of contract and interim projects which require a short term skills injection, in conjunction with the new law, means employers are becoming increasingly more open to hiring older professionals,” he said.
From October last year it became unlawful to discriminate on the grounds of age. According to the legislation, an employer cannot impose a lower age limit when recruiting, unless this age restriction can be justified or if the restriction itself is imposed by law.
