Microsoft has launched a test version of its forthcoming Internet Explorer 7 browser.

Internet Explorer 7 Release Candidate 1 (RC1) follows a beta 2 version released in April.

RC1 has been made publicly available for download and Microsoft is urging IT professionals to test it and use it to prepare for the final release of Internet Explorer 7. A free "Readiness Toolkit" is also available.

On its website Microsoft said, "We are confident that websites and applications that are optimised with this build will be compatible with the final version when it is released later this year."
