More than 60 companies from around the world have now joined the Itanium Solutions Alliance (ISA) to advance the adoption and ongoing development of Itanium2-based solutions.
Companies who have recently joined the Alliance include CommuniGate Systems, GOSS, ION Computer Systems, MicroStrategy, Open Country, Peter-Service, Prelytis, Remedy IT, Symas Corporation and WebTech One.
Alliance membership is open to any enterprise and technical software supplier looking to optimise applications for Itanium 2-based platforms, or enterprise and technical computing providers looking to network with other leaders in the delivery of mission-critical computing solutions. Members can also gain free access to a suite of enabling tools that aid developers in porting their applications to Itanium 2-based systems.
Furthermore, says the ISA, the announcement comes as an increasing amount of independent software vendors have joined the Alliance, demonstrating their commitment to Itanium 2-based platforms on which more than 7,000 applications currently run.
"Alliance Membership continues to grow due to the customer demand for Itanium 2-based systems," says Michel Lepert, executive vice president of Bull Products and Systems. "This is a major milestone for the Alliance in demonstrating the commitment to a platform that's rapidly growing, particularly with the introduction of Montecito, the next-generation dual-core Intel Itanium 2 processor, coming this summer."
