Businesses in the North East are wasting millions of pounds a year on systems that are late, over budget or doomed to fail, according to the BCS Newcastle Branch.

Alasdair Irons, associate dean in the school of computing at Northumbia University, has been called in by the BCS to advise local businesses on how to combat these costly failures.

A report published by the BCS and the Royal Academy of Engineering revealed that only 16% of IT projects were completely successful, with the cost of failures across the EU estimated at tens of billions of pounds.
