Computer Sciences Corporation has signed a $135m (£73m) five-year IT outsourcing deal with British Nuclear Group.

The deal means CSC will manage and support UK IT operations for the nuclear site management and clean-up business, including helpdesk and desktop services, software applications support, networks, midrange computing, telecommunications, and managed security.

The contract will support around 12,000 users based at sites across the UK. It supercedes CSC’s previous contract with BNFL, British Nuclear Group’s parent company.

CSC is also involved in a major business change project that will include upgrading British Nuclear Group’s infrastructure and delivering an integrated package of project and financial control processes, systems and staff training.

Brian Tenner, finance director of British Nuclear Group, said: “The increased functionality and simplified business processes resulting from the business change project will deliver significant benefit to the business, and provide a robust IT platform in support of our future strategy.”
