IBM releases eServer for larger firms
IBM has introduced two eServer platforms for datacentres and large enterprises to attract users who would have previously opted...
The 64-way eServer p5-595 can be configured with up to 64 processors. IBM said it has nearly three times the performance and twice the capacity of its predecessor, the pSeries 690.
The 32-way eServer p5-590 is also said to outperform the pSeries 690. Both systems are powered by IBM's Power5 processors, which are equipped with multi-threading technology to boost processing power.
With multi-threading, each processor looks like two processors to the operating system, thus increasing processing speed and boosting productivity.
Both platforms will start shipping from mid-November, said IBM.
