Siebel has released version 7 of its customer and employee relationship management e-business software featuring a new browser-based architecture and automated upgrading, writes Antony Adshead.

The company said the new release will run on a browser which, although the client version will look slimmer, will retain familiar features such as the drag-and-drop function that reduces network traffic because a screen refresh is not required when field-level changes are updated.

The new release includes modules for customer relationship management and employee relationship management applications. They include sales, marketing, call centre, field service, professional services automation, e-service, e-mail response, interactive selling and partner and employee relationship management.

Underlying technologies such as the workflow engine and XML generation and transformation wizards are included.

The company says that users will be able to upgrade to new versions while maintaining customisations and without loss or corruption of data.
