Network Associates (NAI) has appointed the head of the company's McAfee division, Gene Hodges, to the position of company president.

The company also announced that Steve Richards, the company's chief financial officer, would expand his responsibilities to include those of chief operations officer.

The moves come as NAI continues efforts to reverse its financial woes. The company has posted a series of losses in recent quarters, most recently losing $11.3m (£7.9m) for the third quarter of 2001, which led to the announcement that the company would shed products and jobs.

Hodges will be replaced by Art Martin, who joins NAI from CrossWorlds Software, a maker of business integration products.
