Convergys Corporation, which supplies customer relationship management systems to many mobile network operators, has teamed up with Microsoft to take on Oracle in the market for mobile billing systems.
The companies said at the Mobile World Congress that they are using Microsoft's Dynamics CRM and SQL Server 2008 R2 to develop Convergys's next-generation business support system. Convergys said it would give operators greater insights into customer behaviour and more flexibility in developing and adding items to the product list.
The system will have a new user interface to simplify call handling for call centre agents, and a single catalogue allows easy bundling of new products to help agents with more targeted cross-selling opportunities.
SQL Server will provide data compression, partitioning, availability, and encryption at no extra cost, letting network operators centralise and manage critical customer information.
